The Reprieve

Posted by MrKurt On December - 17 - 2008

This is another update for the Local Music Scene in Cleveland.  The Reprieve has a long record of being in the thick of the local industry and drumming up new eclectic sounds.  Jeff Dilorenzo, the brains of it all and his trusty sidekick, Kurt Farrell, have gone from post-punk (Thursday Style) to a “The Faint” feeling where we think about putting on our dance shoes.

The only thing holding me back from wearing skinnies and becoming an emo dancing maniac is the industrial synthesizers and lyrics that bring a bit of a (NIN) feeling to a well balanced dynamic composition.

If your looking for something original and new but still legibly addictive, then check out The Reprieve on myspace.  www.myspace.com/thereprieve

ps. my favorite song on their sampler is “Movies” (watch for the synthesizer breakdown during the chorus)

Eric Bambic Clevelands Premiere Drummer

Posted by MrKurt On September - 11 - 2008

The extraordinary Cleveland drummer, Eric Bambic, can be seen playing out on an average of 3 nights a week with various bands.  I caught up with Eric at Sunset Grille while he was playing with Madison Crawl, a rockabilly band, where I witnessed his rock-solid experience in providing concrete rhythms for harmonies to flourish.   If you ever have a chance to see Eric Bambic live, you will clearly notice his ability to independently control his limbs in a jazz oriented manor.  His technique stresses dynamics while easily adding syncopated filler, ultimately leaving the viewers in awestruck.

I definitely encourage you to check out his work.  Eric’s two main bands are Madison Crawl and The Ohio Sky.  For his schedule of gigs, please visit www.ericbambic.wordpress.com

I fully support local music!  If you have any musicians that should be in this category, please email me at kurtedwards1@gmail.com
